In the 37 years since moving to Maui, Chuck Bergson, president and CEO of Pacific Media Group (PMG), has transformed the company from a single radio station in West Maui to 21 stations across Hawaii and multiple media platforms. Recently, PMG launched CULTURE by Pacific Media Group, a network integrating podcasts, social media, YouTube shows, and local documentaries, aligning legacy media with modern digital platforms.
Bergson emphasized the need to evolve with the changing media landscape, highlighting PMG’s radio stations on several islands and their digital news outlets, like Maui Now and Kaua‘i Now. He likened their progress to a rainbow, where they’re now at the top, looking to modernize and combine traditional with new media.
Joining him, Josh Duhaylonsod, PMG’s head of creative content, noted the wealth of local talent and stories that the new project aims to amplify. Through five original podcasts and YouTube shows like “Listening Party,” PMG is not just producing content but also nurturing new artists and fostering a sense of community pride among Hawaiians.
Duhaylonsod underscored the goal of uplifting local artists and content creators, providing them a broader platform through PMG’s extensive network. Bergson reiterated this vision, aiming to support and elevate talents while promoting Hawaiian culture through diverse media forms.
