China Investigates Four Online Travel Reservation Services

The Beijing Municipal Administration for Market Regulation has launched investigations into four online hotel and travel booking platforms for potentially harmful competitive practices. This is part of a larger initiative to clean up the travel booking sector, following reviews and discussions with key regulatory bodies.

The China Hospitality Association supports these investigations and is advocating for increased transparency regarding trading practices, including search result rankings and commission rates.

This crackdown comes shortly after Trip.com Group was fined approximately $765 million for antitrust violations in the online hotel reservation market, indicating a strong regulatory focus on fair competition in the industry.
