Shawano County Advances in Staff Retention and Work Environment – TCH Daily News

Human Resources Director Julie Hasser reports a notable decline in the county’s turnover rate, which has dropped from an annual rate of about 20 percent to 17 percent—a significant achievement for the organization’s size. The goal is to further reduce this number to below 15 percent, aiming for around 10 percent eventually. The county has implemented changes such as flexible scheduling and competitive pay to improve workplace culture and retention rates.

In addition, there is a positive trend in decreased retirements, indicating that long-term employees are choosing to stay longer. Recruitment shows mixed results, with progress in filling correctional officer positions, but challenges remain in dispatch roles. The county is addressing hiring delays in dispatch to retain qualified candidates. Overall, improving retention and recruitment is crucial for the county’s operations and attracting talent to the Shawano County community.
