LITTLE ROCK– Mayor Frank Scott, Jr. has officially announced the implementation of a new Artificial Intelligence policy for the City of Little Rock. This initiative provides essential guidelines for the ethical application of advanced technology throughout city operations, while enhancing safeguards for citizens’ data and maintaining public confidence.
The AI acceptable use policy lays down a structured approach for city departments to explore and adopt artificial intelligence tools that can drive efficiency, refine internal processes, and enhance access to city services. Importantly, the policy prioritizes robust protections for privacy, security, and accountability.
To ensure proper oversight, an AI Committee, led by the Department of Information Technology, will evaluate and authorize AI tools before their implementation, monitoring their application throughout the city government.
The city employs AI in various capacities, including new website features aimed at helping residents quickly obtain answers to frequently asked questions, navigate city services, and access crucial information at any time.
