Contestant from Celebrity Traitors shares thoughts following elimination

Richard E Grant Speaks Out After Banishment on The Celebrity Traitors

Richard E Grant was convinced fellow traitor James Acaster wouldn’t vote to banish him on The Celebrity Traitors, but was left surprised when both Acaster and Maya Jama chose to vote him out. In a recent episode, Grant was banished after inadvertently revealing his traitor status following the first roundtable.

Alongside Jama, Grant had enlisted comedian Acaster to help mitigate suspicion toward him. After they ‘murdered’ broadcaster Amol Rajan, Grant was met with a shocking betrayal at the roundtable where his allies turned on him.

In a candid discussion on the spin-off show The Celebrity Traitors: Uncloaked, Grant remarked, “I thought Maya would definitely stab me… but I naively thought, ‘Oh well, maybe James… would come through for me.’ Not one word came out of James’s mouth to support me.”

He also revealed that his admission to comedian Joe Lycett about being a traitor was a spontaneous decision, motivated by excitement rather than strategy, saying, “It was my 69th birthday present. When Claudia tapped me on the shoulder, I went, ‘Yes!’”

Grant acknowledged that actress Miranda Hart had sensed his guilt even before his slip. After his banishment, Acaster and Jama sought out mathematician Hannah Fry to recruit as a new traitor.

The next episode featured a twist, revealing that actress Myha’la received the majority of votes from her peers and was subsequently banished.

Catch The Celebrity Traitors on Fridays at 8 PM on BBC One.
