Free Tuesday Workouts in SouthPark Loop: Spring Fitness Series

Embrace Fitness This Spring with SouthPark’s Free Fitness Series

As spring blossoms, it’s the perfect time to boost your fitness routine. SouthPark Community Partners is inviting local residents to join their free weekly fitness series on the scenic SouthPark Loop. This initiative is all about engaging the community in fun and accessible workouts that cater to all fitness levels.

The Spring Fitness Series kicks off every Tuesday in April outside The Colony Apartments. Each session presents a different type of workout, expertly led by local fitness instructors. Participants can look forward to activities ranging from calming yoga and Pilates to dynamic high-intensity interval training (HIIT).

“This series is all about making fitness accessible and fun for the community,” explains Maddie Chase, vice president of marketing and experience at SouthPark Community Partners. “The SouthPark Loop serves as a shared space, and offering free outdoor workouts invites individuals of all fitness levels to connect, get moving, and feel welcomed.”

After each workout, participants can cool down with a complimentary cold plunge provided by Sweathouz, allowing for a refreshing end to each session.

While the workouts are free, organizers kindly request that attendees register in advance at Spring Fitness on the SouthPark Loop | SouthPark Charlotte.

On April 21, participants can look forward to a unique experience as Motion Fitness takes the lead. Coach Robert Fatone will guide attendees through a HYROX-inspired workout that combines bodyweight strength exercises with engaging cardio intervals.

“Many people view ‘HYROX’ as intimidating,” Fatone shares. “However, our intention is to demonstrate that this style of functional fitness is accessible to everyone. We center our workouts on movements that participants are already familiar with, like lunges, combined with quick bursts of cardio.”

Fatone plans to showcase several functional fitness exercises, including the burpee broad jump, a fundamental HYROX movement that might seem daunting at first.

“While the burpee broad jump may sound intense, there are several modifications available,” he explains. “You can simply adjust the jump, step instead of jump, or divide the movement into manageable parts. Once participants give it a try, they often realize they can achieve more than they thought possible.”

According to organizers, this fitness series aims to foster consistency, build community, and encourage outdoor physical activity in one of Charlotte’s liveliest areas.

“Even if you attend just one class, we want it to be a memorable experience,” Chase emphasizes. “The ultimate goal is straightforward: show up, move your body, and have a blast.”

Join the Spring Fitness Series every Tuesday until the end of April and invest in your health while enjoying the great outdoors.
