Southern California-based Opto-Knowledge Systems Inc. (OKSI) is expanding into Jacksonville, Arkansas, with a new $5.4 million manufacturing facility. This project is expected to create 200 high-skilled jobs in the area. Groundbreaking is set for August, with operations anticipated to start later this year.
Jacksonville Mayor Jeff Elmore highlighted the importance of attracting out-of-state companies to Arkansas, noting that this facility will enhance the region’s defense industry. Positions at OKSI will encompass engineering, manufacturing, technical operations, artificial intelligence, and systems integration.
Elmore believes Jacksonville has a workforce ready for these opportunities but expects the project to attract even more workers. He emphasized the growth potential for Central Arkansas’s defense sector and the interest from new companies in the area.
With construction beginning soon, city leaders plan to assist OKSI in establishing and expanding its operations in Arkansas.
