Universal Scientific Industrial (Shanghai) Co Ltd (USI-SH), a subsidiary of ASE Technology Holding, has announced a substantial investment of $120 million in Hai Phong, Vietnam. This funding aims to support the company’s expansion into products for data centers and artificial intelligence.
Key Details:
- Total Investment: Following this latest investment, USI-SH’s total commitment to Universal Scientific Industrial Vietnam Co Ltd will reach $235 million, enabling a 100% ownership of the venture.
- Initial Plans: USI began its investment journey in Vietnam in late 2019, starting with a $42 million plan to establish a manufacturing facility in Hai Phong, covering an area of 65,000 square meters.
- Production Capacity: The plant officially started operations in July 2021, focusing on system-in-package (SiP) electronic modules. The current project has received approval to increase its investment to $290 million, with an annual production capacity of 260 million products.
- Financial Performance: By December 2025, the Hai Phong facility had generated over $800 million in revenue, primarily from SiP modules for smartwatches and industrial products.
- Future Plans: USI is set to enhance its product line by introducing advanced optical transceiver modules aimed at meeting the growing demand in North America.
The company is also exploring the possibility of setting up a second manufacturing facility in Hai Phong to further support its ambitious growth strategy.
