A woman from North Miami Beach, Nathalie Belizaire, has been arrested for allegedly leaving her four children home alone while she was on a cruise. She faces four counts of child neglect after authorities discovered the children unsupervised in their apartment. Belizaire was supposed to leave the kids with their great-grandmother, but when the great-grandmother checked, she found the children hiding and heard the TV on.
The children were found after their father contacted the police when he received a message from Belizaire asking him to check on them. Police arrested her upon her return to port on September 28, 2026. Carnival Cruise Line stated that the incident was a law enforcement matter not related to the cruise itself. An attorney representing Belizaire has yet to comment on the case.
