Important Recall Notice: Ultimate Multivitamin+ Dietary Supplement
In Washington, D.C., a significant recall has been announced for approximately 148,000 bottles of a widely-used dietary supplement. The concern arises from the packaging failing to adhere to child-resistant standards, posing a risk of poisoning for young children.
The recall specifically involves the Ultimate Multivitamin+ bottles distributed by Mindbodygreen. According to a notice released on Thursday by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the supplements contain iron—an element that necessitates child-proof packaging under the Poison Prevention Packaging Act, due to the severe consequences that accidental ingestion can cause. The current packaging does not meet these safety requirements.
Regulators estimate that about 148,370 bottles are affected by this recall. These vitamins are packaged in eight-ounce amber glass bottles with black caps, each containing 60 capsules.
Customers are strongly encouraged to keep these bottles out of children’s reach and sight. They should also contact the company to obtain a complimentary replacement cap that meets child safety standards. Once the updated cap has been fitted, consumers can safely continue using the supplements as directed, according to the CPSC.
To date, no injuries or incidents have been reported related to this packaging issue. However, safety experts emphasize that iron supplements can pose significant dangers if ingested by young children, which is why strict packaging regulations are in place for such products.
The affected bottles were sold online via the company’s website from November 2021 to November 2022, with prices ranging from $40 to $70 based on various subscription plans. Customers may request replacements by emailing multi@mindbodygreen.com or by visiting the company’s website.
