Kitco News is pleased to welcome Jeremy Szafron as an anchor and producer from its Vancouver bureau. With a rich background in journalism, Jeremy brings extensive experience in covering entertainment, current affairs, and finance.
Jeremy embarked on his journalism career in 2006 at CTV, Canada’s largest broadcaster. He began as an entertainment reporter, effectively engaging audiences, before transitioning to focus on business reporting, particularly in mining and small-cap markets. His expertise in macro-financial analysis and market trends established him as a respected commentator on CTV Morning Live and as a familiar face on CTV News Network.
One of the highlights of Jeremy’s career was his coverage of the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games, where he showcased the Olympic community and hosted segments from various Country Houses participating in the event. Capitalizing on this experience, he launched an online video news program for PressReader, steering the platform in an innovative direction. PressReader serves as a digital newsstand, offering over 8,000 newspaper and magazine editions in 60 languages, sourced from more than 120 countries.
In 2012, Jeremy took a leap into digital media by creating The Green Scene Podcast, rapidly attracting more than 400,000 subscribers and establishing himself as a prominent voice in the burgeoning cannabis industry. Following this triumph, he initiated Investor Scene and Initiate Research, platforms dedicated to providing exclusive market insights and deal-flow opportunities in mining and Canadian small-cap stocks.
In addition to his journalistic endeavors, Jeremy has served as a market strategist and investor relations consultant for various publicly traded companies across the mining, energy, consumer packaged goods, and technology sectors.
A proud graduate of Concordia University, where he earned a BA in Journalism, Jeremy’s academic foundation has been integral to his versatile and impactful career. Now, as an anchor at Kitco News, he is poised to keep a global audience informed about significant developments and crucial trends in finance and commodities.
