In today’s rapidly evolving legal landscape, the integration of generative AI tools is becoming increasingly prominent. Rebecca Delfino, an associate professor of law at LMU Loyola Law School, offers her insights into the implications and potential pitfalls of these technologies in the legal field.

Regarding the use of legal research tools like Lexis, Delfino expresses concern, stating, “I think people rely on these because they have been trusted based on prior beliefs, to their detriment.” Even though AI errors, commonly referred to as hallucinations, are less frequent in controlled environments, they can still occur, leading to significant risks in legal decisions.
