The Hootin an Hollarin pet show this year featured a delightful mix of pets, including traditional companions like dogs and cats, alongside more unusual entrants such as a water buffalo, lemur, and turkey. Organized by retired veterinarian Konnie Plumlee and emceed by Dr. Katlin Hornig, the show awarded trophies and ribbons across various categories. Notable winners included Willie the chiweenie, acclaimed for Best Wagger, and Endora the hare sheep, celebrated for Best Behaved.
The competition for Most Unusual Pet was fierce, with blue ribbons awarded to Willow the lemur and Walter the water buffalo, who made a big impression at 975 pounds. Other winners included Dally the blue heeler for Most Talented and Bubba, the miniature donkey, who won Best Costume.
The show showcased creativity and camaraderie, as even Terance the turkey snagged Best In Show—though he humorously hinted at wanting a pardon come Thanksgiving! The event highlighted the diverse meanings of “pet” in Ozark County, ending with smiles and ribbons for many proud pet owners.
