Feeling Behind? You’re Not Alone

How can I build on the response to my previous post? I’ve never experienced such engagement before, and I’m still trying to respond to each reply thoughtfully.

Interestingly, I wasn’t planning to share anything today.

Since last week, I’ve been engaging in meaningful discussions and reflecting deeply, all on my own. I’ve returned to jotting down my thoughts rather than relying on my agent’s input.

One of my challenges is inertia. While this newsletter follows a specific format and is typically sent on Tuesdays and Thursdays, I find it easier to stick to the routine. I feel a sense of obligation to maintain it.

But, ultimately, I’m on a quest to discover my true passion. Continuing with the same approach won’t lead me there. It’s time for a change. Thus, from now until the year’s end, I will experiment with different formats, varied content, and possibly adjust the days and frequency of my posts. Think of it as the digital equivalent of embarking on a journey of self-discovery, much like tossing on those iconic Thai pants and finding freedom.

I must focus on topics that genuinely interest me. To sustain this venture long-term, I need to create content that resonates with me personally. So, what sparks my interest?

I’m following my instincts. This approach has led me to fascinating conversations with companies like Stripe, Granola, Zed, and Raycast about how they’re navigating this new landscape while maintaining their mental well-being and fostering a thoughtful culture. There’s a wealth of intriguing topics emerging here, which I intend to explore and expand upon soon.

You may wonder why I chose to post today despite my initial intentions. During my reflection on whether to share, I felt a desire to invite you into my thought process. I want to be transparent as we discover this path together.

I’ve minimized my reliance on Grok Bot, using it solely to notify me about Carlos Alcaraz’s matches. I’m opting for longer reads and consuming less fluff, which has allowed me to spend less time on X. I’ve committed to recording a daily voice memo for at least ten minutes without worrying about transcribing it. This practice allows my thoughts to simmer, helping me identify what keeps drawing my attention.

Agents often provide ready-made answers. However, when we’re engaging in ‘soul-searching’ or attempting to connect the dots, a pre-packaged response may not be the best path, even if it appears reasonable. My goal here is simple: to discover what I genuinely want to pursue and to pay attention to recurring themes when I take time to reflect.

This isn’t an indictment of AI at all. I have a great appreciation for AI; it has enabled me to accomplish much more than I previously could. However, I see it as a tool—not a substitute for human experience. I believe one good tool (an agent) is usually enough. Instead of viewing every engagement as an opportunity for optimization, I aim to leverage AI for enjoyment.
