A mother in Osceola County, Florida, is facing multiple charges of child neglect after leaving her four children, aged 9 to 14, alone for several days while she traveled to Las Vegas. On October 21, a 911 call reported that a 9-year-old boy had been injured when a dumbbell fell on his head. When deputies arrived, they found no adults present.
The mother, identified as Irene Miller, told authorities she had left on October 18 and arranged for a babysitter to check on the children, although the sitter was not required to stay overnight. Miller was arrested upon her return to Florida on October 23 and has been charged with four counts of child neglect without great bodily harm. The injured boy was treated at a local hospital and released. The children’s father was contacted and agreed to take them home. Miller is currently booked at the Orange County jail.
