Florida Mother Irene Miller Taken into Custody at Airport for Leaving Four Children Unattended While on Business Trip to Las Vegas

A Central Florida mother, Irene Miller, has been charged with child neglect after allegedly leaving her four children, aged 9, 11, 12, and 14, home alone for days while she traveled to Las Vegas. On October 21, deputies responded to a 911 call from the 9-year-old, who suffered an injury from a falling dumbbell. Upon arrival, deputies found no adults present.

Miller, who had left on October 18, claimed she arranged for a babysitter from Tampa to check on the children and prepare them for school, but the sitter was not required to stay overnight. The injured boy was treated at a local hospital and later released. Upon her return to Florida on October 23, Miller was arrested at Orlando International Airport and charged with four counts of child neglect without great bodily harm. She was booked at the Orange County jail.
