A Kissimmee mother, Irene Miller, was arrested after her four children were found home alone while she was in Las Vegas. The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office reported that a 911 call came in when a dumbbell fell on her 9-year-old son’s head. Deputies discovered the children—aged 14, 12, 11, and 9—unsupervised at their home.
Miller, 50, had left for the trip on October 18, 2023, and informed deputies that a babysitter from Tampa was supposed to check on the children, although not overnight. After her return on October 23, she was arrested at the airport on four counts of child neglect. The children’s father took them to his home following the incident.
Sheriff Chris Blackmon emphasized the agency’s commitment to investigating child neglect cases and holding parents accountable for insufficient supervision.
