Sick Bunnies Abandoned Outside Animal Shelter
In a distressing incident in St. Charles, four sick juvenile bunnies were found crammed in a small cardboard box outside Dolly’s Dream Home Rabbit Rescue. The box bore a note that simply read “sorry! take care.”
Katie Reed, the Executive Director and Founder of the rescue, noted that she receives around 100 requests weekly for surrendering or dumping rabbits. This case is part of a troubling pattern, which previously included an iguana taped to a tree and guinea pigs abandoned in O’Fallon.
The bunnies are currently receiving medical attention for a variety of ailments. Reed expressed her shock upon discovering the rabbits, stating that her heart sank when she saw the note.
Dolly’s Dream Home Rabbit Rescue plays a crucial role in providing support for unwanted rabbits, taking them from challenging situations and placing them in appropriate foster homes.
