Child-Free Millennials Prefer to Keep Travel and Lifestyle Unhindered by Parenthood

Erin Hynes and Lucas Amormino, a Canadian couple, decided to quit their jobs to travel for six months. While their decision was largely supported by loved ones, they faced questions about their life choices, especially concerning parenthood. They identify as DINKS (dual income, no kids) and have consciously chosen not to expand their family beyond their pet cat.

In early 2024, they traveled through seven countries, experiencing various cultures and completing activities like cooking courses. After their travels, they started applying for new jobs, finding work by July while planning future adventures, including a trip to Iceland. Their lifestyle enables them more freedom for travel without the responsibilities of parenting, which Hynes describes as their “dream life.” They are now considering remote work arrangements that allow them to explore while also earning an income.
