Reunite the Baby: Pet Kangaroo Escapes in Maury County

A kangaroo named Ollie has escaped in Middle Tennessee. The one-year-old marsupial, who was wearing a purple harness, left his home in Maury County on Tuesday. Described as timid and unlikely to approach strangers, Ollie had recently moved in with his current family.

Kayla Middlebrooks, a neighbor assisting with the property, reported that Ollie took off during their usual walking routine. They have been helping him acclimate to other animals on the farm, and he was starting to warm up to his surroundings.

Kangaroos in Tennessee are classified as Class 3 exotic animals, which means no wildlife permit is required to keep one. However, due to their adaptability issues in unfamiliar settings, it’s crucial to locate Ollie quickly.

Middlebrooks speculated that Ollie might be in the Columbia area, near a dam, and urged anyone who sees him to get in touch through social media, text, or local authorities. Both the Maury County Sheriff’s Office and local residents have been notified of his escape, and his owner, Jodi, is understandably anxious for his return.
