CenterPoint Energy Announces Stable Natural Gas Bills for Indiana Residents
INDIANAPOLIS — CenterPoint Energy has announced that natural gas bills for Indiana residents are expected to remain consistent with last year’s rates. The stabilization is attributed to a decrease in natural gas costs, as reported by the U.S. Energy Information Administration, which anticipates that Midwest households will spend approximately 10% less on natural gas this year compared to the previous one.
To assist Hoosiers in managing their energy expenses, CenterPoint Energy offers several resources:
-
Energy Assistance Program: Applications opened on October 1. Households with an income at or below 60% of the state median can apply through local community action agencies.
-
Universal Service Program: This program ensures eligible customers receive an additional reduction of 15% to 32% off their total natural gas bill (excluding Energy Assistance Program benefits) from December through May.
-
Due Date Extensions and Payment Arrangements: Free options are available for customers needing special payment plans to keep their service connected and manage energy costs more effectively.
-
Levelized Billing: This option allows for a more even distribution of heating costs throughout the year.
-
