Chained Dogs MKE Needs Help to Feed Local Pets
Chained Dogs MKE, a nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting families with their pets, is facing a significant shortage of dog food, with only 14 bags remaining to support over 100 animals each month in Milwaukee.
Founded on volunteer efforts, the group delivers food and essential supplies to families and aids in improving the living conditions of outdoor dogs. Their reach extends to community outreach events, supporting unhoused individuals, and collaborating with veterans and social workers.
According to Gracie Marchese, the group’s vice president, the demand for their services has doubled over the last year, exacerbated by rising food and veterinary costs. Notably, 90% of the families they assist lack transportation, making these deliveries critical in alleviating financial burdens.
Chained Dogs MKE is planning its annual “Back to the ’80s” prom fundraiser on Saturday, October 10, at Kochanski’s Concertina Beer Hall. They are requesting donations of dog food, toys, collars, leashes, and harnesses.
