Crescent Energy’s Acquisition of Eagle Ford Assets
Crescent Energy has announced its agreement to acquire Eagle Ford assets from Devon Energy for approximately $3.85 billion. This strategic move aims to enhance Crescent’s oil-weighted production and expand its inventory near its current operations.
Key Details of the Acquisition:
- Production Estimates: The assets are projected to yield about 68,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boed), based on a forecast by July 2026.
- Inventory: Crescent will gain over 600 net drilling locations, categorized as Tier 1, normalized to 10,000 feet, particularly located in the Karnes Trough.
- Royalties: Additionally, Devon’s mineral rights in the region will be added to Crescent’s royalties portfolio.
Funding and Timeline:
Crescent plans to finance the acquisition using existing cash, alongside potential debt and equity, depending on market conditions. The transaction is expected to finalize in the fourth quarter of 2026 or early 2027, pending standard closing conditions.
