Instagram Apologizes for Overloading Users with Creed Content | Entertainment

Creed’s “Higher” Takes Center Stage on Instagram

(CNN) — Creed is best known for its mid-late 1990s rock anthems, especially their 1999 hit “Higher.” Once a staple of rock radio, it has recently emerged in an unexpected context: Instagram. Users have begun to notice that Instagram keeps suggesting “Higher” as the perfect soundtrack for their posts, whether it’s a dog frolicking in a field or a serene sunset.

Many on social media have pointed out this puzzling trend. One user humorously speculated that Creed was paying Meta, Instagram’s parent company, to promote their song. Others shared anecdotes about the relentless recommendations, even for mundane posts like a salad or casual family gatherings.

An Instagram spokesperson confirmed this peculiar occurrence, attributing it to an error in their algorithm, which incorrectly favors the song. They are currently investigating the matter.

While Creed’s popularity may seem to have faded in mainstream music, this incident raises the question of whether sentiment for the band still lingers among users—or if it’s merely a glitch in the system.

Interestingly, while “Higher” has come under scrutiny, another song, Soulja Boy’s “Turn My Swag On,” appears to be successfully circulating in recommendations, confirming its actual popularity on the platform.

As Instagram sorts through these recommendations, users are left wondering what influences the music choices in their feeds and whether more unexpected hits will emerge.
