The Middle East Center at MTSU, established in 2006, connects academic study with cultural practice. It offers students opportunities to explore Middle Eastern customs through courses and events, and is dedicated to promoting understanding of the region’s cultures.
The center provides resources for students through a minor in Middle Eastern Studies, advising, and study abroad programs. Faculty advisor Mohammed Meerzaei emphasizes the program’s interdisciplinary nature, covering language, culture, history, and politics.
Tara Taha, president of the South West Asian and North African Student Association, highlights the center’s support in organizing cultural events, fostering community, and building networks across different academic disciplines.
