Dolly Parton’s estate is currently in a legal battle with her nephew Bryan Seaver, who is accused of using a “no trespassing” sign and barbed wire to evade being served with legal documents. Seaver, a former head of her security team for over 20 years, is facing accusations from Parton’s company, She’s Alive LLC, for threats and extortion aimed at the estate.
The lawsuit was filed in Davidson County Chancery Court following Seaver’s termination and points to a series of escalating threats made by him, including towards business partners associated with Dollywood. Seaver has moved to delay a court hearing, claiming he needs time to consult with legal counsel, but She’s Alive’s lawyers argue that he is attempting to evade legal proceedings.
Court documents indicate that a process server faced barriers, including the aforementioned signs and wire, while trying to deliver the lawsuit. Seaver’s communication included alarming threats and financial demands both before and after Parton’s death, including plans to harm her brand if his demands weren’t met.
The next hearing is scheduled for October 20.
