Comics claim SiriusXM is sidelining middle-class comedians.

The rebranding of SiriusXM’s “Raw Dog Comedy” to “Sebastian Maniscalco’s Comedy Radio” has led to significant changes in the lineup of comedians featured on the channel. Since the change, the number of comics airing their material has decreased by 66%, from 812 to just 275, primarily replacing lesser-known, working-class performers with big-name figures like Joan Rivers and Kevin Hart.

This shift has raised concerns among many comedians, including Patton Oswalt and Gianmarco Soresi, who have publicly urged Maniscalco to revert the programming to support smaller acts. The move, while aimed at introducing a new creative direction according to SiriusXM, has cut off a vital income source for emerging comedians during a time when they already face challenges, including the risk of having their material appropriated for other platforms.

Maniscalco has not commented on the backlash, leaving many to question the impact of this new direction on the comedy landscape.
