Ross Kemp on Celebrity Traitors
TV star Ross Kemp’s experiences in the Celebrity Traitors have left viewers amused, though he insists he maintains a “game face.” The actor is gaining popularity with younger audiences who may not be familiar with his earlier role on EastEnders.
Kemp expressed his enjoyment in participating in the hit BBC One show, but humorously pointed out that he has to keep quiet about spoilers, joking that the disclaimer is “longer than the Bayeux Tapestry.”
Having visited some of the world’s most perilous locations, including Afghanistan, and interacting with dangerous groups, he noted that his time on the show felt much less nerve-wracking: “It’s not like getting eight contacts in Afghanistan in the Sangin Valley before 8am. No, it was fine. I enjoyed every second of it.”
Commenting on his noticeable paranoia in the show, Kemp stated, “I was wary because that’s what you do. I had my game face on.” He entered the competition with a strategy but kept his plans under wraps, emphasizing, “Yes, I wanted to be a Faithful, and wanted to be as good as I possibly could be.”
Since the airing of the second series, Kemp has noticed an uptick in public recognition, jokingly recalling how he had never been asked for selfies at his local petrol station before. His comments came during a charity event in Somerset for the National Emergencies Trust, where he is an ambassador.
In the competition, alongside other celebrities like Richard E Grant and Maya Jama, Kemp aims to win £100,000 for charity. Contestants must identify the traitors among them while completing challenges to build a prize fund. If any traitors remain by the end of the series, the faithful players miss out on the money.
The show is set to return on BBC One and iPlayer on Thursday at 8 PM.
