Hoke County officials are warning residents near Calloway Road and Summer Lane to be on the lookout for a lost boa constrictor, measuring 6-7 feet. The Animal Shelter has urged anyone who spots the snake to contact Animal Control at 910-875-4148.
The snake’s owner described it as docile and used to being handled. However, Animal Control Director Kristi Pylant recommended that people exercise caution. Although boa constrictors are non-venomous, they can still react defensively. Residents are advised not to approach the snake and to keep away children and pets. If seen, the public should maintain a safe distance and notify Animal Control immediately.
