‘The Celebrity Traitors’ Season 2: Amol Rajan Reflects on His Exit
In the latest season of The Celebrity Traitors, Amol Rajan has become the first contestant to exit the competition, an event he describes as “humiliating.” Speaking about his experience, Rajan shared insights on what he might have done differently to avoid being eliminated.
Journalsit Amol, along with comedian James Acaster, was selected by Traitors Richard E. Grant and Maya Jama to plead their cases for joining the Traitors’ turret. Unfortunately for Amol, his pitch wasn’t compelling enough, leading to James being recruited instead.
Reflecting on his departure during an appearance on The One Show, Rajan expressed how challenging it was to exit first and to not be chosen as a Traitor. He amusingly noted that if given another chance, he would adjust his strategy and perhaps be kinder to Richard Grant, whom he perceived as a chaotic figure.
Rajan emphasized the pressure of being a contestant: “When you are on The Traitors, it’s your world. You’re hundreds of miles from your family; you don’t get your phone. It’s so intense.” The fear and anxiety peaked when he walked into a pivotal moment with James, only to discover two open coffins representing the stakes of the game.
In retrospect, Rajan believes that his career as a journalist may have set him apart in the group, suggesting it contributed to his early target status. He found some moments of the show particularly memorable, like Richard’s bold reveal as a Traitor, which he described as one of the best moments he’d seen on TV in a while.
As the remaining contestants navigate the aftermath of his exit and Richard’s surprising moves, Amol teased that they would indeed “live with the consequences” of their decisions.
For fans wanting to catch more of the drama, The Celebrity Traitors airs on BBC One and can also be streamed on BBC iPlayer.
