Cruise Ship Detaches from Dock Due to ‘Unusually Strong Winds’ | Travel

A Virgin Voyages cruise ship, the Scarlet Lady, broke free from its moorings in Rhodes, Greece, due to unseasonably high winds on September 30. The crew responded quickly, re-mooring the ship within minutes, and no injuries were reported. The cruise, which began in Athens on September 27, continued as scheduled without affecting subsequent sailings. This incident follows similar occurrences, including a Norwegian Cruise Line ship losing its moorings in Corfu and a Celebrity Cruises vessel drifting in Alaska.
