This Mini Pig Aids in Combating Homelessness – GOODNET

Pets provide invaluable support, and they can significantly enhance the well-being of individuals, offering love, companionship, and comfort. Among the most common service animals are dogs, but some people are finding alternative companions like pigs to aid those in need.

Ami M. Angell, the founder of the h3 Project in Washington, D.C., is using a mini pig named Synergy to connect with people experiencing homelessness. This unique approach has proven to break down barriers and foster trust during outreach efforts.

Operating from Union Station, which sees nearly 100,000 visitors daily, the h3 Project provides essential services like document assistance and medical support, leading to numerous successful housing matches and overdose reversals in the past year.

Synergy helps make connections that traditional methods may not, demonstrating that innovative approaches using unexpected companions can significantly impact individuals facing crises. By engaging with Synergy, people who may have been previously unresponsive are starting to seek the support they need.
