Richard E. Grant recently made headlines for a funny mishap during his appearance on Celebrity Traitors. Known for his role in Withnail and I, Grant called the competition winner Andy to announce his massive £1.25 million prize but accidentally revealed the big news too quickly.
Reflecting on the incident, Grant admitted, “I have a tendency to get to the punchline too quickly sometimes.” Andy, astonished, exclaimed, “I can’t believe this. Is this really genuine?” He shared plans for a family holiday to Mauritius, a dream long held due to financial constraints.
Grant participated in the series premiere, where he was chosen as one of the two Traitors by Claudia Winkleman. In a light-hearted moment, after telling fellow contestants about his role, comedian Joe Lycett responded in disbelief, saying Grant might have just done something unprecedented in the game.
As the gameplay continued, Grant and Maya Jama chose comedian James Acaster to become a Traitor, eliminating Amol Rajan in the process. Rajan later noted that when he questioned Grant’s decision to eliminate him first, Grant humorously replied it was “to protect myself,” viewing it as a “compliment.”
The next episode of Celebrity Traitors airs on October 8, promising more twists and turns in the competition.
