Celebrity hairstylist Chris Appleton has officially become the first contestant eliminated from this year’s season of Strictly Come Dancing.
After the Movie Week-themed live show on Saturday night, Apple’s performance placed him near the bottom of the judges’ scores, just above Melanie Walters. The results show revealed that Walters and her partner, Aljaž Škorjanec, managed to secure public support and avoid the bottom two.
In a dance-off, Appleton faced off against Jaime Winstone, who had a more favorable position on the leaderboard. After their routines, the judges unanimously chose to save Winstone, leading to Appleton’s exit.
Reflecting on his experience, Chris mentioned, “It’s been such a whirlwind of emotion… I felt so out of my comfort zone.” He expressed gratitude to everyone involved and emphasized the friendship he developed with his partner, Amy Dowden, stating, “I’ll take from this show having a friend in Amy.”
Dowden, who faced elimination for the second consecutive year with her partner, shared her sadness over the outcome but expressed hopes for their friendship lasting beyond the show.
Meanwhile, singer-songwriter Delta Goodrem emerged as the current frontrunner, earning high scores for her performances, followed closely by Lacey Turner and Graeme Hall.
Strictly Come Dancing returns on Saturday night at 6:15 PM on BBC One.
