KC Pet Project makes an urgent appeal as only two dog kennels remain available.

KC Pet Project Urgent Call for Help

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – KC Pet Project is facing a critical situation with 254 dogs currently in its care and only two open kennels available. The shelter is urgently reaching out to the public for assistance.

This week, the shelter has seen a significant increase in dog intakes, with 93 dogs arriving since Sunday, while only 40 have found new homes. As a result, the shelter is at full capacity, and every available housing space is occupied.

To encourage adoptions, KC Pet Project is waiving adoption fees until Sunday, Oct. 4, for dogs weighing 40 pounds or more. Adopters will also receive a pet parent starter kit that includes food, toys, and supplies.

How You Can Help:

  1. Adopting: Consider adopting dogs, especially long-stay residents like Kahuna, a 2-year-old dog facing kennel stress. Each adoption frees up space for incoming animals. Browse adoptable dogs here.

  2. Fostering: Short-term foster placements can immediately create more housing for dogs in need. Sign up to foster here.

  3. Sharing: Help spread the word by sharing the shelter’s announcements online to increase adoption outreach.

Your support can make a significant difference in the lives of these animals!
