Greyson Makes a Comeback: Celebrity Greyhound Unveils Final Calendar

Celebrity Greyhound Returns with Finale Calendar

A round of “a-paws” goes to Jason Dunkle of Washington and his 11-year-old Italian Greyhound, Greyson, for the 2027 Old West calendar featuring the local celebrity pooch as Mad Dog Greyson, the treat-smuggling bandit.

Photographed at Wild Gals Old Time Photo in Pigeon Forge, TN, the clever costumes Dunkle had custom-made showcase Greyson in various roles — a southern gentleman, a cowboy, a pilgrim, and even a gangster, while Dunkle takes on the character of Sheriff Jason “Quick Draw” McGraw in a year-long storyline.

The 12-by-12-inch wall calendar includes historical facts related to the theme of each month and interesting anecdotes about Greyson’s life. Each ordered calendar will come with Greyson’s personal “paw-a-graph.”

Greyson, known for his elaborate costumes and impersonations, has garnered a local following over the years. He won the Woofstock costume contest in 2023 and 2025 and has appeared on the covers of Pet Connections Magazine and VetPet’s 2025 calendar. He’s a regular furry attendee at the Washington County Italian Festival and has visited several nursing homes as Elvis.

“Whether competing, attending events, or simply walking through town, Greyson has a way of making people smile,” Dunkle said.

This sixth and final calendar release comes as Greyson turns 12 in October. Dunkle aimed to create a lasting keepsake, a true reflection of their journey together.

Dunkle’s first Italian Greyhound, Roxy, began the adventure of costumes and calendars in 2009. A heartfelt tribute to Roxy, who passed away in 2021, is featured at the end of the calendar. Roxy had her own calendar created in 2015, and the duo posed together for additional calendars from 2017 to 2019. Dunkle has donated a portion of proceeds to animal rescue causes.

Proceeds from the 2027 calendar will benefit the Italian Greyhound Rescue Foundation, continuing a legacy as Dunkle donated the initial proceeds from Roxy’s first calendar over a decade ago.

In June, Dunkle revisited Pigeon Forge with plans for just a photo shoot with Greyson. However, upon seeing the results and reflecting on their past experiences, he decided there was one more story to tell, featuring a plot in which Greyson has a list of humorous offenses.

“I don’t want to reveal how it ends, but readers should know there’s an unexpected twist,” Dunkle teased.

Most costumes were custom-made by Little Milo’s Closet in Towanda, IL. Dunkle, who admits to having a storage unit full of dog costumes, continues to indulge in this fun venture.

“It’s like reliving my childhood, dressing up,” Dunkle shared.

Professionally printed and saddle-stitched, the calendar involved collaboration with a designer who donated part of her fee to Dunkle’s charity.

Greyson’s posing skills are remarkable. “He’s such an awesome model. People are often in awe of how well he poses,” Dunkle noted.

To find out if Mad Dog Greyson evades capture, the calendar can be ordered for $40, which includes shipping and a donation to the Italian Greyhound Rescue. Payments can be made via check, Venmo, or PayPal. Be sure to include your name and shipping address!
