Ikea has teamed up with Xbox to launch YXSTABY, a new collection of home goods tailored specifically for gamers. This collaboration includes a variety of furniture and accessories designed with gaming aesthetics in mind, characterized by Ikea’s neutral tones enriched with Xbox’s iconic green accents.
Highlights of the YXSTABY Collection:
- Gaming Controller Display Box: A stylish way to showcase controllers.
- Thumbstick Stool: A playful green stool shaped like a thumbstick, priced at $49.99.
- D-Pad Cushion: A cushion designed in the form of a D-pad.
- Gaming Monitor Stand: Available for $39.99, it elevates your gaming equipment.
- TV Stand: Priced at $149.99, offering ample space for entertainment setups.
- Glass Display Box: For controllers, retailing at $29.99.
The collection also includes practical storage options, like a $179.99 wheeled end table with hidden shelves and a $34.99 toolbox that doubles as a laptop stand.
Carl Ledbetter, head of design for Xbox Devices, stated, “By translating elements like the D-pad and thumbstick into functional furniture, we created pieces that celebrate Xbox design while feeling completely at home in everyday living spaces.”
While the collaboration aims to capture the gaming spirit aesthetically, some critiques suggest that the designs may come off as either too subtle or overly direct.
Previous Collaborations
This isn’t Ikea’s first venture into gaming. In 2021, they partnered with Asus for gaming furniture, and previously worked with Sonos on speaker designs before terminating that collaboration.
