The Yakima Humane Society is currently facing an overcapacity situation due to a recent influx of animals, particularly with 14 dogs coming from a hoarding case. The shelter typically operates at full capacity and relies on a waitlist for new arrivals, but the recent surge has made space even more limited.
Despite being overcapacity, staff are ensuring that all animals receive necessary care, including food, medications, and attention. The shelter is reaching out to the community for support through fostering, adopting, volunteering, donating, or even sharing pets online. Donations of food, blankets, and treats are also appreciated for those unable to adopt.
For those interested in adoption, the Humane Society will hold an event at McCurley Subaru on Saturday, October 10, as part of the “Subaru Loves Pets” initiative.
