Life Time Expansion in West Cary: A Vision for the Future of Fitness and Community

Discover the New Life Time Alston Town Center: A Hub for Fitness and Community

The highly anticipated Life Time Alston Town Center in West Cary is set to open its doors on February 10. This new fitness center will introduce over 100 weekly fitness classes and a variety of amenities, all situated conveniently near NC-55 and Interstate 540.

Formerly known as Life Time Fitness, this facility redefines what it means to live a healthy lifestyle by blending fitness with community engagement. Life Time offers more than just traditional gym equipment and exercise classes. Its offerings also include social events, a café, workspaces, family-oriented programming, and wellness services for recovery and relaxation.

“Our goal is to create an ‘athletic country club’ environment,” explains Natalie Bushaw, Life Time Inc.’s vice president of public relations and corporate communications, during a recent tour of the facility.

Part of an expanding Minnesota-based company, Life Time is projected to grow significantly, considering its recent fourth-quarter report indicating a revenue increase of 14.2% expected for 2025.

With plans to add 12 to 14 large-scale clubs in 2026, Life Time is enhancing its footprint significantly, which will almost double the square footage of new clubs due to open in 2024 and 2025.

Currently, Life Time operates a center in Cary near the Lochmere and MacGregor Downs neighborhoods, as well as a smaller facility in Apex. The new Alston Town Center location epitomizes the growth of fitness and community engagement in Western Wake County.

The new Life Time facility will employ an opening team of 160 staff members and features what Bushaw describes as an “ecosystem of health.” Membership includes access to all group fitness classes, which range from a sought-after high-intensity reformer workout known as CTR to treadmill and strength-based classes like GTX.

Specialized studios will host barre, yoga (including heated options), spin, and traditional Pilates. The training areas will be well-equipped with free weights and 14 Olympic platforms, offering classes that blend strength training with a CrossFit-style format.

Additionally, a significant focus on recovery is apparent, featuring CryoLounge chairs, on-site stretch experts, and chiropractic services. The facility will boast both indoor and outdoor amenities, including:

  • An indoor pool with 12 lanes for lap swimming
  • An outdoor pool designed for relaxation, complete with a zero-entry feature and a water slide
  • Three indoor and six outdoor pickleball courts

The Life Spa offers various services, including massage, hair, and nail treatments, available for both members and non-members. Visitors can enjoy the full facility for the day when they book a spa treatment. A Rejuvenation Suite designed for contrast therapy includes a hot tub, cold plunge, steam room, and sauna.

The Life Café prides itself on a health-centric menu, serving coffee and meals free from artificial ingredients and unhealthy fats. Bushaw emphasizes, “If it’s here, it’s healthy,” ensuring all grab-and-go foods align with wellness goals.
