Constellation Energy Stock Rises on Power Purchase Agreement with Amazon
Starting October on a bullish note, Constellation Energy (NASDAQ: CEG) shares are climbing today, boosted by a new power purchase agreement with Amazon. As of 1:06 PM ET, the stock is up 2.3%, down from an earlier peak of 6.4%.
Major Agreement for Power Supply
Constellation and Amazon recently announced a 20-year, 690-megawatt power agreement aimed at supporting $3 billion in facility upgrades at the Calvert Cliffs Clean Energy Center in Maryland, which includes two nuclear reactors. This investment will enable Constellation to add approximately 190 megawatts between 2030 and 2032, increasing the facility’s current output of 1,790 megawatts.
Additionally, the companies have established a related retail supply agreement, enhancing Amazon’s operations in the 13-state PJM market.
