Christine Ann Center Presents Its Second Annual “Pets on the Patio” Fundraising Event

Pets on the Patio Fundraiser at Fifth Ward Brewing Company

Christine Ann Domestic Abuse Services is hosting its second annual fundraiser, Pets on the Patio, today, October 1, at Fifth Ward Brewing Company.

Mission:
The event highlights the importance of pets as family members for domestic abuse survivors. According to Community Outreach and Development Manager Courtney Van Auken: “For many survivors, the thought of leaving a beloved pet behind can be a barrier to finding safety.”

Key Developments:

In October 2024, the Christine Ann Center will relocate to 240 Algoma Blvd, expanding its capacity and becoming pet-friendly, which includes:

  • Transitional Housing Program
  • Full ADA accessibility
  • Acceptance of dogs, cats, and small animals in the shelter

The Inspiration:

Carmen Leal, owner of Oshkosh Pups, inspired the event after witnessing the tragic consequences of non-pet-friendly shelters. She emphasized that this event aims to prevent domestic abuse survivors from needing to abandon their pets for safety.

Event Details:

  • Time: 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Activities: Donations of pet supplies or monetary contributions are requested to support pet care. Food trucks will be present from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and attendees can enter to win raffle baskets.
  • Incentives: Donors will receive $1 off any pour at the brewery.

Unable to Attend? Donations can be made online at this link or dropped off at Christine Ann.

Join the community to support survivors of domestic abuse and ensure pets are part of the journey toward healing.
