CD Projekt Red has acknowledged that PC performance issues in The Witcher 3: Remastered stem from NVIDIA Hairworks. Despite a successful launch and record player counts, users are experiencing significant performance drops, linked to the hair simulation technology.
Performance Issues Explained
According to a post from CD Projekt Red Support on X (formerly Twitter), disabling NVIDIA Hairworks can help mitigate these performance drops while the developers address the issue. This technology aims to enhance realism by simulating hair and fur, but it seems to be impacting frame rates negatively.
Graphics Driver Update
In another update, the support account noted that updating to the latest graphics drivers—617.14 for NVIDIA, 26.9.2 for AMD, and 32.0.101.8993 for Intel—might resolve some graphical glitches and performance concerns.
Console Issues
While PC players are the focus, reports also indicate performance issues, including FPS drops and crashes, on PS5. However, CD Projekt Red has not yet acknowledged these concerns publicly.
