The emergence of ‘micro-travel’ and other trends poised for major growth in 2027, as highlighted by Hilton.

The travel industry is already looking ahead to 2027, with Hilton releasing its 2027 Trends Report, based on a survey of nearly 15,000 travelers. Here are the five key trends identified:

  1. Micro-Travel Mindset: Shorter, frequent trips are becoming popular, allowing travelers to fit travel around work and be more spontaneous. Two types of micro-trippers exist:

    • Selectors: Focus on one main experience.
    • Stackers: Aim to pack in multiple experiences on one trip.
  2. The Rise of ‘Ish’: Travelers are embracing imperfections in their journeys, leading to concepts like:

    • Healthy-ish: Maintaining some habits while traveling.
    • Adventure-ish: Unstructured itineraries are preferred by many.
    • Solo-ish: Traveling alone but seeking connections with others during the trip.
  3. Growth Getaways: People are increasingly booking trips focused on learning, such as language or cooking classes.

  4. Wellness, Rewired: A growing importance is placed on nature during wellness trips. Many travelers seek relaxation in natural settings, recognizing its value for mental health.

  5. The Travel Trust Equation: Despite increasing reliance on AI for planning, travelers still prefer human recommendations, especially from hotel staff and family.

These trends highlight a shift towards personalized, meaningful travel experiences that prioritize wellness and personal connection.
