Experience Unique Coffee in a Serbian Café Alongside Alpacas.

A cafe in northern Serbia has made headlines for featuring six alpacas as unique hosts. Located at the Tiganjica Ethno-Village resort near Stajicevo, these South American animals interact happily with guests while roaming among the tables.

Owner Zoran Ostojin was inspired to open the cafe after visiting a similar one in Slovakia. He wanted to introduce people in Serbia to the calming presence of alpacas, known for their gentle character and soft fleece. The animals are popular among visitors, many of whom come on organized tours.

Guests are encouraged to follow house rules to ensure the animals’ safety, including not approaching them from behind or feeding them outside food. Instead, they receive a small bucket of carrots, lettuce, and apples to share with the alpacas.

Each alpaca has its own personality; for instance, Ljubica, a black alpaca, is known to be grumpy, while Snezana, despite her small size, is the herd leader. Alpacas are sensitive to human behavior, responding positively to those who approach with kindness.

The resort also features a small zoo and facilities for dining. Ostojin, who began caring for injured animals as a child with his brother, received the first alpaca from the Belgrade Zoo eight years ago and quickly grew attached to their unique energy, describing it as having a “healing ability.”

The cafe’s visits are prearranged, costing about 10 euros, which includes a drink and alpaca food, offering a delightful experience to animal lovers visiting the resort.
