Perez Hilton has reunited with his mother and three children nearly two months after being hospitalized due to a mental health crisis. The celebrity blogger, 48, was hospitalized on August 4 following a distressing TikTok livestream where he appeared to harm himself. Subsequently, his family revealed he had been involuntarily taken to a facility for mental health evaluations.

A recent update on his website confirmed that Hilton, whose real name is Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr., has started reconnecting with his family. He has been able to participate in video calls and has had short, supervised visits with his mother, Teresita Lavandeira, and his three children.

The update stated, “Seeing his children in person has meant an enormous amount to Perez. There have definitely been a lot of emotions for everyone, but being able to spend that time together has been incredibly meaningful and healing.”

Limited Communication with Family

Though he remains at a residential treatment center, Hilton’s communication with his family is limited. The statement from his family acknowledged the challenges this presents, emphasizing that their current focus is on his care and healing rather than constant communication.

His family also confirmed that there is no set timeline for Hilton’s return home, as they prioritize his recovery. They expressed gratitude for the progress he has made and the time he can now spend with his children.

Temporary Custody of Children

The family shared that Teresita Lavandeira has been granted temporary custody of Hilton’s children: Mario (13), Mia (11), and Mayte (8). The children are reported to be safe and well amid this difficult time.

“Three children came frighteningly close to losing their father forever. There is nothing funny or entertaining about that,” the family stated. They acknowledged September as Suicide Prevention Month, reminding everyone that mental health struggles can affect anyone, even if they aren’t visible.

The statement concluded with a commitment to listen to medical professionals regarding Hilton’s care and recovery process, prioritizing his well-being as they navigate this challenging situation together.
