National Investment Agency Debuts with Additional €3.3 Billion

The Dutch government has greenlit the establishment of a National Investment Institution (NII), aimed at bolstering funding for innovative companies and large tech projects through a capital infusion of €3.3 billion. Combined with existing funds from Invest-NL and Invest International, the NII will have a total core capital of approximately €6.6 billion. This effort is intended to address financing gaps in sectors like digitalization, AI, energy, and life sciences, where substantial initial investments are crucial. A private sector declaration supports the initiative, although the terms and amount of private funding remain uncertain. The plan also includes appointing a CEO by 2027 to drive the NII’s operations and potential expansion.
