Saskatchewan Marks 16th Annual Culture Days Celebration

Culture Days Thrive in Saskatchewan’s 16th Year

A cultural movement that began in Quebec is now flourishing in Saskatchewan, marking its 16th anniversary. The province is celebrating Culture Days across 45 hubs, offering free events like workshops, open mics, and performances.

Initially launched in Quebec, Culture Days has expanded nationwide, with celebrations held in Saskatchewan since 2010. Dean Kush, CEO of SaskCultures and a Culture Days national board member, emphasized the importance of community engagement through interactive cultural activities.

Kush stated, “Culture is such a big part of our community, and having people come out and engage together, especially when they’re doing interactive things, is vital.”

The Art Gallery of Regina, a long-time participant in Culture Days, is showcasing a new exhibit called “The Fashion Show,” which features the creative expressions of Saskatchewan artists through clothing. The exhibit marks the first time that some of the showcased artists will have their work in a gallery.

Sandee Moore, the gallery’s director, acknowledged the vital role Culture Days plays in promoting arts in the region: “I really appreciate all the support that Culture Days does and really makes it possible for the gallery to do more.”

Culture Days will run until October 4, with a variety of events planned throughout the province. More details can be found on the event’s website.
