Sensorium’s Foxglove Launch: Where Electronic Music Merges with Live Visuals | Arts & Culture

Concert Recap: Foxglove Plantbar’s Greenhouse Showcase

On September 25 at 8 p.m., Foxglove Plantbar hosted a vibrant music concert featuring house, techno, and downtempo sounds through live electronic sets. Organized by Sensorium, the event offered two hours of music and visual art, alongside food and drinks, inviting attendees to dance and immerse themselves in the experience.

About Sensorium

Sensorium is a creative collective based in Athens, dedicated to organizing electronic music events that prominently feature hardware and technical instruments. Their events uniquely incorporate live visuals alongside the music, enhancing the overall sensory experience.

“We wanted to create events centered around electronic dance music and hardware sets, both for sound and video,” explained Jay Domingo, a key member and performer at the event under the name Smoggo.

Venue and Atmosphere

Foxglove Plantbar, a dynamic space combining a bar and plant shop, served as the perfect venue for the night. Attendees enjoyed a variety of drinks from the new bar area, while Red Eye Mile High Club provided food options outside.

“It’s all about being a third space for our community—somewhere people can shop, relax, and enjoy a cocktail or a mocktail,” shared Zo Whiteside, bar manager at Foxglove.

Performances

Performing artists delivered two 15-minute sets each without breaks, starting with Ohmu, who set a tranquil mood with ambient, cinematic sounds. Following him was Ryan Schey from Sensorium, who echoed the collective’s commitment to fostering a creative environment.

“The live hardware aspect allows for sharing innovative creative work,” Schey noted.

Echo Constant followed, blending techno with ambient noise, while artist Echo Rudder emphasized the emotional connection of music creation: “Seeing how people engage and enjoy what I create gives my work meaning.”

After Smoggo’s set concluded the first hour, Ohmu returned to deliver dance tunes with a ’90s deep house influence. The musical journey continued with various styles and artists, wrapping up at 10 p.m.

Future Events

This night marked Sensorium’s inaugural event, with plans for more gatherings scheduled throughout the fall. Xander Witt, another Sensorium member and visual artist for the night, highlighted the collective’s mission: “We all share a love for boundary-pushing music, and we aim to take it further.”

With a successful launch, Sensorium is poised to become a pivotal force in the electronic music scene, fostering community connection through innovative performances.
