Recently, UT Home Secretary Mandip Singh Brar conducted an inspection of the area to assess the current conditions and public amenities. During his visit, he evaluated the walking and jogging tracks and identified areas in need of immediate repairs through the engineering department.
Brar also emphasized the need to incorporate yoga and exercise facilities to encourage healthy recreational activities in the space. In addition, he instructed officials to consider establishing a café, ensuring attention to cleanliness and environmental sustainability in the design.
To move this project forward, the Chandigarh College of Architecture has been tasked with creating a design proposal within the next 15 days. The plan will aim to integrate fitness and wellness features while retaining the existing trails and equipment. This initiative aligns with the master plan vision for Leisure Valley, enhancing its role as an essential green space in the city.
The inspection team included Municipal Commissioner Amit Kumar, Chief Engineer C. B. Ojha, Chief Architect Rajiv Kumar Mehta, and Dr. Sangeeta Bagga, Principal of the Chandigarh College of Architecture. This visit is part of a broader effort to improve public infrastructure and enrich recreational spaces for the community.
Conclusion
The proposed developments at Leisure Valley are an exciting step towards fostering a healthier lifestyle in Chandigarh. By enhancing fitness and wellness facilities in such a vital area, residents will not only have access to improved spaces for physical activity but also a supportive environment for overall well-being. As these plans unfold, they hold great promise for the community’s future health and vitality.
