Everton Plans £50 Million Investment in January, Expected to Aid TFG in Selling the Club

The Friedkin Group (TFG) might significantly invest during the upcoming January transfer window if it aids in the sale of Everton, according to former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson. He suggests that the potential for European qualification could motivate the American owners to invest, particularly if the team is performing well in the league.

The owners faced criticism for leaving David Moyes with a less competitive squad at the start of the season. This past summer, Everton acquired Jack Grealish and Ainsley Maitland-Niles as part of their strategy to attract new investors. However, concerns arose about TFG’s commitment, given their relatively short time in ownership.

Borson notes that if Everton finds itself in a strong league position—perhaps contending for a Champions League spot—investing in new players could enhance the club’s value and make it more attractive for prospective buyers.

In terms of squad needs, while maintaining current talent may be a priority, addressing the striking position remains crucial. Everton is considering potentially re-signing Richarlison from Tottenham at a reduced fee, with other young talents like Tyler Dibling also likely to feature prominently in January discussions.
